TEHRAN - A plan outlining integrated regulations for the protection, management and development of the historical fabric of Shiraz has been officially registered by the National Library and Archives of Iran, authorities said.

The document, titled “integrated regulations for the protection, management and guidance of development in the historical fabric of Shiraz,” was commissioned by the Ministry of Transport and Urban Development and drafted in cooperation with the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, the Shiraz Historic Fabric Cultural Heritage Base and a board of domestic and Italian consultants, IRIB news agency reported on Thursday.

Authorities said registration in the national archival system consolidates the document’s legal and academic status and enables structured access for researchers, urban managers, students and other stakeholders in cultural heritage and urban planning.

Interested users can access the registration information, bibliographic details and related data by searching the title of the plan in the archival resources section of the organization’s official portal, the report said.

Hajar Askari, head of the Shiraz Historic Fabric Cultural Heritage Base, said the plan is the result of more than a decade of field studies, technical analysis and institutional coordination at provincial, national and international levels.

She said the registration of the document in the national archival memory would facilitate broader and more practical use in urban policymaking and heritage protection within the historic fabric of Shiraz.

Known as the heartland of Persian culture, Shiraz has a rich history stretching back over 2000 years. This city is synonymous with poetry, education, and the arts, and has been a hub for creativity and intellectual pursuits. Once the capital of Iran during the Zand dynasty, Shiraz is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in the country, including Arg-e Karimkhan, the Eram Garden, and the Tomb of Hafez, to name a few. The city is located 60 kilometers of the UNESCO-registered Persepolis which was once the summer capital of the Persian Empire.
